It is a 'slicks and wings' formula and, with the power of the Vauxhall 2 litre 16 valve engine, the performance of the 170bhp cars is similar to Formula 3,generating 170bhp and delivering a top speed of 160mph.
The engines are taken straight from the production line and then sealed and maintained by a specialist company. This prevents any modification by the individual teams and thus ensures virtually identical performance.
With a sole chassis manufacturer, no engine tuning allowed, 'control' tyres from Bridgestone and strict controls on modifications, the formula has rapidly grown to become a major step in a young driver's career. |
