Red Bull announce DC as 2009 reserve driver
Wednesday, 25th March 2009
In a suprise announcement Red Bull Racing today announced that David Coulthard would be named as their official reserve driver.
DC would be required to take over racing duties if anything was to happen to regular drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel although it is thought that his services will only be required for the first two flyaway races in Australia and Malaysia.
Red Bull Racing had hoped to sign up Brendon Hartley as its reserve driver already, but the New Zealander has not yet been granted the mandatory superlicence that he needs although the team is hopeful that it can sort out Hartley's paperwork in the next few weeks.

DCM suggest that if anyone is travelling to Melbourne for the GRand Prix - make sure you have a really really bad flu and try and sneeze around the vicinity of Sebastian or Mark if you make it anywhere near them!
Don't worry David - We'll get you back in the driving seat for one more race.........
Whilst we're here DCM would like to wish Red Bull Racing all the best for the 2009 season and hope that Mark, Sebastian (and maybe DC) have a great year and that the Red Bull RB5 car is as impressive in race trim as it has been all winter in testing.
